Okay, listen. I have not been planning well the last few weeks. We’ve just been moving forward, through our books and having discussions. But, I don’t feel like we’re engaging with the content as much as I want us to be. So, I’m diving back in with proper planning! I also slimmed down our daily reads. I’ll try to get that updated this week.
Here’s our plan for this week. We have an all day field trip on Tuesday that we’re looking forward to. We’re also incorporating the American Girl Felicity books into our curriculum as we talk about the founding of the country. I probably should have remembered to do that last unit, but better late the never, right? We’re using the Welcome to Felicity’s World as a “spine” to jump off of in history, in addition to our normal history curriculum.

One thing I’m still up in the air on is incorporating some Colonial science and music, specifically. I tried to make several of the other things tie into the Felicity study. The 10 min. are our mini-recesses to stretch our legs and burn off energy.
The finish basket is my solution to my kids taking approximately fifty-seven trillion years to finish one notebooking page. I literally set a timer and that’s how long they have to work on it and then when the timer goes off, it goes into a basket in the middle of the table and we move on. While I make lunch, they finish the things in the basket. If they’re already done, they get a bonus break.
The girls each also have a morning work binder they do before breakfast with a few handwriting and other review sheets. If you want to see what that looks like, let me know! They each read independently, too. For the little ones, that’s a short early reader at their level. Lou Bae usually reads at least a chapter.
Last note is, we rarely actually go in order! If you read my posts, you know we regularly front-load Mom Time, for example. It just depends on the day. Anyway. That’s the plan for the week. What are you up to this week?
