Meet Our Family

We are a Catholic homeschooling family of six. My husband, Tom, and I have four daughters. For their privacy, I won’t use their real names or post photos of their faces. But, I think you’ll get to know them just as well through their personalities!

Tom and I got married in 2009, with plans to immediately start our family. God had a different journey in mind. We struggled under the heavy weight of infertility for several years before falling into foster care and eventually adopting each of our children through foster care.

Tom is a hard worker, and the best dad and husband. I call him my “okay husband” I come up with a crazy idea and he says, “okay” and it happens! I’ve never heard the man say he can’t do something, it’s always, “I’ll figure it out” and he does! I couldn’t ask for a better, more supportive husband.

Lou Bae came to us in 2016 when she was only a few days old. She’s currently nine years old! She’s definitely my big helper, and loves to host and organize. Little House on the Prairie is basically part of her personality. She loves to read and craft!

Phita came home in 2018 when she was ten months old. She’s eight! She’s funny, silly, and stubborn. Phita was shaken by her biological father when she was a baby. As a result she has severe brain damage that impacts every facet of her life. She’s wheelchair dependent, blind, g-tube dependent, a creative communicator, has a global developmental delay, and a subset of epilepsy called LGS that is difficult to control and typically has several seizures a week. I often tell people to think of a six month old in an eight-year-old body.

Evie came to us in 2019 at a little over a month old. She’s seven now! She is my creative one, always making up the best stories and coming up with creative plans. She loves all things yellow, construction, and dino!

Teeny also came to us in 2019, at just a few days old. She’s six! She’s my fearless one. She’s always asking questions that I typically don’t have answers for. She loves playing with bugs and always carefully rehomes them to keep them safe. She’s eternally curious and willing to try just about anything!

In case you’re doing the math, there are nineteen months between Lou Bae and Phita, eleven between Phita and Evie, and seven between Evie and Teeny. Yes, it was hectic when they were little and we had a toddler and three who couldn’t walk! Evie was born at 30 weeks, and had a lot of health issues early on, so by the time Teeny came along, she was starting to catch up on milestones and it was very much like having twins. Triplets in a lot of ways, with Phita.

We wouldn’t change it for the world! They’re a joy and a challenge in the best way and I’m so blessed to be their mama! I hope you enjoy coming along on our adventures!
