Happy Tuesday! And happy St. Patrick’s day!
Our Tuesday begins around seven, I shut the alarm off several times this morning. Whoops! I finally got up and got ready for the day, took my supplements and exercised. I did math with Lou Bae and got Phita’s morning meds ready.
Evie and Teeny played in the living room. We’ve been learning about insects right now and they have a particular fascination with Army Ants. They were “building bridges” with their bodies between the couch and the ottoman and then the other one would pretend to walk stuffies and drive cars over them.
We ate breakfast and I did language arts with both of the younger girls. Tom was home this morning, so he took care of Phita’s morning routine while Lou Bae did her independent work. We headed out to go for a play date at a new friend’s house for the first time, and before the girls could get in the car, we remembered that Tom picked up counter tops for our kitchen remodel (coming soon…one day).
We worked together to lug the giant things in the house and ended up leaving at the time we were supposed to be there. I loathe being late. Even for casual things. It makes me itchy. I texted to let them know and we were on our way. Phita stayed home with Tom.
We listened to our school songs. If you aren’t familiar, Catholic Schoolhouse is similar to Classical Conversations in that it has songs to help them memorize the concepts for each section. We were getting ready to turn on our audiobook when my sister called. We talked to her the rest of the way to our destination.
The play date was a lot of fun! I don’t do well in social situations and pretty much always say something I replay in my head a million times and am sure made the other person hate me. Usually I make several of those comments. I only racked up two of those moments today, so win! Also the kids all had a great time.
We were there for about two and a half hours and the kids we went to see begged us to stay, so I take that as a good sign. We grabbed some lunch on the way home and also ran into the grocery store to get some herbs for supper. We listened to True Stories of Great Americans for Young Americans on the drive home.
Tom went to bed when we got home and the kids played while I did PT exercises with Phita. We read our school books and I started supper. I made colcannon and Irish beef stew, because it’s St. Patrick’s Day.
I paid our property taxes. Which I maintain is absurd. We don’t have a mortgage, we own it outright. There’s no reason we should have to pay to keep owning our home. I know, I know. Roads and police. But, I’m pretty sure they tax me enough elsewhere to make up for it.
Someone broke a window. Which, is funny/not funny because the other day we were reading something with a broken window and the kids having to fess up to who did it and all of that drama. I remember thinking how odd it is that so many children’s stories and episodes of shows feature this theme, when I’ve never experienced that in real life.
Until today. No one will take credit for it, so it is what it is. Tom will repair it and life will move on. Kind of frustrating, but I’m glad no one got hurt. I’m sure this will be one of those things that when they’re in their thirties, they finally own up to.
Tom woke up and we ate, got Phita’s night feed going, and the kids played. Tom fixed the window as well as he could for today. He left for work and I worked on the computer while the kids played.
We put the house to bed and got ready for bed. My best friend called and we made plans for later in the week. I got Phita’s night meds ready and let the kids watch Signing Time.
We read our bedtime books, said our prayers, brushed our teeth, and the I put the girls all to bed. I called my grandma to check on her and talked to her for a bit. I got ready for bed, watched a podcast, talked to my friend again, and sat down to write to you!
And that was Tuesday With Amanda! I hope you had a great Tuesday, too!
